Finally, solar energy takes precedence for meeting general human needs such as public lighting.
It is only a matter of time when free and eternal solar energy will completely or partially replace the lighting of public areas.
Solar street lighting refers to the use of solar panels to power street lighting.
These systems use photovoltaic cells to convert solar energy into electricity, which is then stored in a battery.
When the sun goes down and the ambient light level drops, the stored energy is used to power the street lights.
There are several different types of solar street lighting systems, but they all generally consist of the following components:
- solar panels,
- battery,
- charging controller, as well as
- street lights.
Solar panels convert the sun's energy into direct current (DC), which is then passed through a charge controller.
The charge controller regulates the amount of electricity sent to the battery to ensure that the battery is not overcharged or undercharged.
The stored energy in the battery is then used to power street lights, which are usually LED lights.
These lights are highly energy efficient, meaning they require less energy to produce the same amount of light as traditional incandescent, sodium, halogen street lights.
This, combined with the energy-efficient nature of solar energy, means that solar street lighting systems can be a very cost-effective and sustainable way of lighting public areas.
The Republic of Serbia typically has around 1,800-2,200 sunny hours per year.
In Serbia, during one year, about 350 days, solar energy is produced to charge the batteries of solar lamps. In this way, it is possible to reduce electricity bills by 95% of the previous bills.
The company Drago Projekt, with its licensed engineers, designs solar lighting for the client's specific conditions:
In the world, the accelerated installation of solar lighting began, primarily due to independence from hydro and thermal power plants, nuclear plants, import of electricity from the rich, but the essence is in the free energy that we get from the sun.
